Litebook Research Grant

The Litebook Company has a mandate to support research in light therapy and thus in 2005 established the Litebook Research Grant, in the amount of US$25,000.00, to be awarded on an annual basis for research on a novel or emerging application of light therapy, using The Litebook LED devices.

For the 2007 grant, applications were received from researchers worldwide, and the recipient was chosen by an independent Selection Committee comprised of leading researchers in the fields of light therapy, psychiatry, sleep and psychology: Dr. Raymond Lam, U of British Columbia, Canada (Committee Chair); Dr. Dan Oren, Yale University, USA; Dr. James Maas, Cornell University, USA, and Dr. Siegfried Kasper, U of Vienna, Austria.

The recipient of the 2007 Litebook Research Grant was announced by Litebook founder Larry Pederson at the annual meeting of the Society for Light Treatment & Biological Rhythms (SLTBR), held this year in Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 28-30 (www.sltbr.org). The 2007 grant recipient is Dr. Sonia Ancoli-Israel of the Veterans Administration San Diego Healthcare System Department of Psychiatry in support of her study 'Effect of light therapy on sleep and "chemobrain" in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.'

UPDATE: Effective with the 2008 award, the Litebook Research Grant has been increased to US$50,000.
