Calvin D. Koskowich

Cal is currently an Industrial Technology Advisor with the National Research Council of Canada, and is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Alberta. His work over the last five years encompasses a broad range of technology development projects involving new products for metrology, industrial automation and communications. Some of the public companies Cal has worked with are now listed on the TSE, and private companies have seen hundredfold increases in sales and earnings.

Prior to joining the National Research Council, Cal worked in the consulting engineering sector, on provincial and municipal infrastructure projects with significant electrical energy, automation and information management components. It was in this capacity that Cal was exposed to illumination engineering and its application in working environments.

Previous to working in the consulting sector, Cal was “on the inside” with the Prime Ministers Office of Canada, as a communications security officer with the Privy Council Office. Working between the senior offices of the Canadian Government, Cal was responsible for the security of electronic communications of all types via computer networks, satellite networks and the telephone system. Cleared by CSIS to receive Top Secret level information, there is not much more Cal can say about this work.

The University of Ottawa graduated Cal with a B.Sc. in Engineering, and he holds a Diploma in Recording Arts and Science from a private school. He also spent several years in the media/advertising industry as an audio recording engineer in Ottawa.

Cal is a native of Lethbridge, Alberta and returned here ten years ago to be closer to family. Working with the NRC has allowed Cal to continue very interesting work and pursue opportunities that would be deemed too uncertain or returns too long for conventional venture capital investment.
