- TV screens and computer monitors both emit a great deal of blue light, and sitting in front of either in the hour before going to bed is one of the worst things we can do for our sleep pattern, since it confuses the brain (our brain is getting ready for night-time yet is receiving this signal to suppress melatonin and be alert).

PHASE-SHIFTING BASICS

Our body clock responds to a variety of cues' in our environment, the strongest of which is light. NASA research proved that a pulse of sufficiently bright light at the appropriate time will move (or 'phase shift') our body clock forward ('phase advance') or back ('phase delay'). This science is now being used to adjust our body-clocks to a new time zone (and avoid 'jet-lag') or shift to a new work schedule e.g. night work (and avoid 'shift-lag').

Phase shifting requires both a 'seek light' phase, and an 'avoid light' phase. Our new selection of special 'light blocking' glasses are intended for use during the 'avoid light' phase. Most ordinary sunglasses do not block out enough of the critical 'blue' wavelength to be effective for use during the 'avoid light' phase (blue wavelength light is responsible for shifting the body-clock; if exposure occurs during the ‘avoid light’ phase, phase shifting will be adversely affected).

Vistana defines the new standard in over prescription sunglass design. Proprietary Dynamic Base Lens Technology™ (DBT) is applied to the Polaré lens system to provide maximum peripheral vision and complete protection from all angles without the use of independent side shields. All Low Vision Cocoons front lenses and side shields are scratch resistant and optically correct. The non-polarized polycarbonate lenses are extremely durable and designed to withstand harsh treatment during daily use. How Does Bright Light Therapy Work?
