Larry Pederson is an entrepreneur and longtime sufferer of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta, The Litebook Company's Founder received his Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) degree from the University of Alberta in 1977. From 1978-80, Mr. Pederson served as the youngest-ever member of the Alberta Motion Picture Censor Board, responsible for classification of all feature-length films exhibited in Alberta; during his tenure, he viewed over two thousand movies from around the world.

From 1980-83, Mr. Pederson attended the Cinema-Television School at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he was the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, including the prestigious FOCUS National College Student Film Award sponsored by Nissan USA.

Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Cinema-Television), Mr. Pederson embarked on his screenwriting career. From 1983-99, he authored (solely or with a partner) eighteen motion picture and television screenplays.

Mr. Pederson first became aware of light therapy in 1994, when he relocated back to Canada due to family illness. He was clinically diagnosed with SAD, and first began using light therapy at that time. He experienced significant relief from daily treatments with a large light box, and became a distributor for the light box's manufacturer. However, he was less impressed with the light box's clunky design, large size, heavy weight and antiquated fluorescent light technology, all of which made the unit cumbersome, inconvenient and aesthetically unappealing. He decided to build a better mousetrap -- and in January 1999, conceived The Litebook®.

His own experience with how light can restore life has led to a new career with the invention of The Litebook® and the founding of a company whose mission it is to improve the quality of life for people world-wide through sharing knowledge of light therapy and providing innovative products with advanced LED technologies.

Mr. Pederson’s outside interests include travel, backpacking, photography and music. He is an avid squash player and health and fitness enthusiast. He is the father of a 12 year old son.
